Sydney Park Water Reuse Project is part of City of Sydney’s Decentralized Water Master Plan (2012-2030). It designed by Turf Design Studio & Environmental Partnership. The aim of this project is that alleviating 10% water demand of the city. Sydney Park was once industrial land and landfill. In the past two decades, people have made many efforts to transform it into a park of 44 hectares, which is extremely important value for the development of communities in south-eastern Sydney.

There are three key points in the project. First and foremost, water resources management is necessary to efficiently recover urban wastewater, improve water quality and reduce consumption of drinking water. The second point is to create places suitable for people's activities so that everyone who comes to the park can enjoy it. For this reason, the park needs a comfortable environment to provide people with a place to live, study or simply stay. In order to create a comfortable and healthy park environment, we must also renovate landscapes and habitats, strengthen the construction of landscapes and leisure projects, and increase the value of parks. Lastly, public the story of the transformation of the park through artistic expressions, so that they can have a deeper understanding of water resources governance. After a period of construction, the water reuse system in the project has now been integrated with the park facilities and fully operationalized. Ecological storage and wetting grounds will collect and purify the water equivalent to 340 Olympic-standard swimming pools each year. People can see the water flowing in and out of them and understand the process of water treatment. By creating new habitats and protecting the original park environment, the species of flora and fauna in the park is becoming more and more abundant. Fundamentally speaking, the project shows the importance of urban water resources management to people in the community. Cities and nature are interdependent and indispensable.
