7 Study of Sponge City strategies 2

Green roof Sponge City (SC) strategy could be another effective solution. When the rain floods come, the runoff from the roof of the building is one of the important causes of the internal paralysis in the city. Therefore, transforming the roof of a city's building into a green roof can effectively relieve the pressure of urban stormwater runoff. On the one hand, collecting and storing rainwater through the sponge city structure and using rainwater for irrigation can save various energy consumption; on the other hand, the green roof will form a good urban landscape and increase the overall greening rate of the city. In the green roof strategy, green vegetation is planted on the surface to absorb excess rainwater runoff during rain and flood, and the rainwater is collected and stored in the rainwater bucket for storage and reuse. The bottom of the green roof is provided with a light soil layer and a root protection system. Multi-layer structure protection such as through-layer, dr...

6 Reflection of double-glazed facades study

图片
Reflection of double-glazed facades study Double-glazed facades are widely installed in many new office buildings with large area of glazing facades. This product has some potential sustainable benefits. However, it also has some limitations. One of benefits of double glazed facades is saving the energy demand of buildings. This facade uses natural heat ventilation principle to transit the heat from the inside. Moreover, double glazing can reduce the direct and diffuse radiation from the outside. However, there are some parameters that can have impact on the performance of the double-glazed facades. First and foremost, the floor of building, it is means that different floor has different impact on the temperature inside the facades. According to Elia’s (2017) CFD simulation, following the environmental temperature increasing and the floor level increasing, the temperature of the facades in the top floor increases dramatically. Therefore, how to alleviate this situation, ano...

5 Case Study of Central Park

图片
Case Study of Central Park Central Park located in an old factory site in Sydney urban. It includes one 16 floors tower and one 33 floors tower, both of them have 6 floors business function area. The project is a 5 stars Green Star building, which cost 60 million AU dollar. There are three aspects of this case study that will be introduced, green surface design, water recycle system and smart-metering system. According to the reference from the Central Park official website, this project’s surface green walls were designed by Jean Nouvel and Patrick Blanc. The vertical garden is the most unique feature of Central Park. The whole building looked like surrounding by plants, in addition, these plants can alleviate the light pollution and reduce the radiation from outside in summer to decrease the temperature of indoor environment. Another unique passive design of surface is about the eastern tower’s sunlight reflection facility. In the daytime, this facility can absorb the sunli...

4 Case Study of Singapore PARKROYAL on Pickering Hotel

图片
Case Study of PARKROYAL on Pickering Hotel PARKROYAL on Pickering Hotel is a green building with green mark certification in Singapore City, which earned BCA Green Mark Platinum Award (Awarded 2012) and Solar Pioneer Award (Awarded 2011). This hotel located in the Chinatown at the gateway to Singapore’s Central Business District. The most unique feature is large of the area of tropical plants on the building’s balcony. Palm trees, flowering plants, shrubs and shady trees are planted outside the hotel. This green building method could absorb more carbon dioxide and decrease the heat radiation from the sun to cooling the indoor air automatically as a passive design. In addition, these plants also could form the light route naturally. Quoting the words form Lee Kin Seng, the hotel’s Director of Marketing Communications, “bring lush greenery into the guest rooms and internal spaces, enhancing the quality of life and reinforcing Singapore’s tropical image.” This design is both ...

3 Study of Green Star CPD Policy

Green Star CPD Policy Introduction of CPD program The Green Star Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program refers to provide more knowledge about Green Star assessment system. This program offers the studying opportunity to who works in Green Star Project or relevant areas. People who learn this program should including a minimum of 4 Green Star points in Green Star Associate (GSA) and 5 Green Star points in Green Star Accredited Professional (GSAP). Green Star points can gain from courses and events. For instance, Green Star courses and participating in Green Star project. People finished the CPD program can gain the certification of working in Green Star rating system in Australia.

2 Study of Environmental Action 2016

Environmental Action 2016 – 2021 Strategy and Action Plan 03 new buildings----shaping the future today Buildings contributes 70 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in Sydney. According to the passage, energy and emission standard for building is divided to four types of building which are respectively residential development, commercial offices, hotel and serviced apartment and retail. All buildings built in the future need to get Green Star Certified rating under a current version of Design & As Built – 5 Star or higher, reach the gold star of LEED ( Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design ) certification. Some design features include many aspect of building performance design. For instance, using Light emitting diode (LED) technology in building light design, solar or heat pump hot water system, high performance glazing, low carbon energy generation, building management system and so on. In addition, water efficiency has been considered for all types of buildings. Hi...
