1 Study of Sponge City strategy 1
China in recent years points out a concept called Sponge City (SC), which is a solution of water control system for future urban area sustainable development. SC is a new generation of urban stormwater management concept. It means that the city has good "elasticity" in adapting to environmental changes and responding to natural disasters caused by rainwater. It can also be called a “water elastic city”. The international terminology is "Construction of low-impact rainwater system." When it rains, this system absorbs water, stores water, seeps water, and purifies water. If necessary, it “releases” the stored water and uses it. There are some SC strategies are used or are going to be used in Chinese megacities.
As the area of urban residential land continues to increase, the natural surface of the city is replaced by impervious and hard materials in the residential area, and natural infiltration, purification and collection of rainwater are faced with great challenges. The landscape land in residential areas should be considered in combination with the design method of the sponge city. In the limited green area, the infiltration, stagnation, and decontamination strategies should be adopted to alleviate floods in urban residential areas. Rainwater absorbing garden of communities, it guides the rainwater on the hard road to the garden. The rainwater can be absorbed, purified through the four layers of pebbles, fine sand, vegetation, and soil in the garden. This design can also be applied to the car park area and community activity area. The second strategy is transformation of top of the underground car park. Installing the stormwater storage tank in the underground parking lot to collect the water from the ground. On the ground, using the artificial garden to collect the rainwater, and guides the water to the water tank.
